BetterPot is a self-watering terracotta planter, preparing to launch on Kickstarter.
It started with a very dry summer. Watching how plants and trees coped through weeks without rain, one thing stood out: the ones that did best were the ones with moisture still available deeper in the soil, close to the roots.
Most pots work against that. Water goes in at the top, runs through, and the soil swings between saturated and bone dry. The plant is left waiting for whenever you next remember.
After a lot of experimenting, that observation became BetterPot: a terracotta pot that holds a reserve of water below the soil and releases it slowly into the root zone, so the plant can take what it needs, when it needs it. Fill it once and the soil stays evenly moist for weeks at a time.
BetterPot is made from terracotta, with no plastic and no harmful materials, and measures approximately 24 cm tall by 24 cm in diameter. It is designed to be left on display rather than hidden away.
We are a small team. BetterPot LTD is our UK company and Better&Better LLC is our US entity. We are launching BetterPot through Kickstarter so that the first production run is honest about how many pots people actually want, and so early supporters get the best price.
